Israeli occupiers kill Palestinian doctor on duty

In the latest round of violence, Israeli occupiers killed a Palestinian doctor in Jerusalem on Friday (October 15). The settlers were escorted by Israeli forces as they stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque over the weekend.

“In all [of] Jerusalem, there is attacking. Just yesterday, the settlers had attacked many families in Sheikh Jarrah [and] Silwan. They killed a doctor while he was helping other people. He was shot and killed by Israeli settlers,” said Abeer Zayyad, an archaeologist based in Al-Quds.

Meanwhile, in a further escalation of violence, nearly 250 Jewish settlers broke into the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound on Sunday (October 17). Far-right settler organisations had encouraged people to break into the holy site in large numbers on the seventh and final day of the Jewish Sukkot holiday.

The Jordan-run Islamic Waqf Department, in charge of the holy site, said the settlers entered the compound through the Moroccan Gate in groups. They performed rituals and Talmudic prayers there, under the protection of Israeli forces.

In September, 4,426 Israeli settlers prayed at the holy site, in violation of signed agreements banning non-Muslim prayers at the holy site.
