South Africa – Archaeologist and historical expert, Abeer Ahmed Zayyad, is set to visit South Africa from the 8 – 18 May on an educational and information tour hosted by Salaamedia. Zayyad has been involved in the preservation of Masjidul Al-Aqsa and its surrounding areas for over half a decade and over that time has accumulated a vast amount of priceless information about the third most holiest site in Islam.

Zayyad will touch down in South Africa later this week and will be visiting Johannesburg, Polokwane, Durban, Cape Town, Porth Elizabeth and Pietermaritzburg. This will be her second visit to South Africa. Salaamedia hosted Zayyad previously in  2017. According to Zayyad, this tour will be focused on the Al Aqsa compound and a history of this blessed land.

“We will try to give a clue about the history of Al-Aqsa mosque and try help you understand the current situation and what is the plan for the future of Al-Aqsa. We know that all of you are waiting to know more about Al-Aqsa mosque and we hope to see you there to learn more about the history of Al-Aqsa.”

While many of us dream to visit Masjidul Al-Aqsa, it is not always possible. Zayyad understands the deep love South Africans have for Al-Aqsa and she is ecstatic to be back in the country to educate those who want to learn more.

“I am also excited to come to South Africa and meet all those who I met in Al-Aqsa mosque. Meet new people and give them information about Al-Aqsa mosque which they can then use when they come to Jerusalem … I am looking forward to meeting all those who are in love with this place [Al-Aqsa mosque] and those who would like to know more about this place.”

Zayyad has studied the pre-Islamic and post-Islamic periods of Jerusalem city going all the way back to Roman and Greek times. It is an opportunity of a lifetime to learn more about the blessed land of Al-Aqsa from someone who has dedicated their life to it.
