Gaza – Many towns in Gaza have become ghost towns. Here, amidst the ruins, more than 8 000 Palestinian lives have been claimed by the merciless onslaught of Israeli airstrikes. A chilling shroud of suffering blankets the land, rendering hearts heavy with helplessness. We stand, mere witnesses to this tragedy, our voices raised in desperate pleas for change. The people of Gaza have not lost hope as they are witnessing miracles before their eyes which tell them Allah (SWT) is with them. They serve as inspiration to the rest of us in strengthening our faith.

Mu’adh bin Jabal (RA) said that he heard the Prophet (SAW) say: “Whoever fights in the cause of Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, for the length of time between two milkings of a she-camel, Paradise is guaranteed for him. Whoever asks Allah to be killed (in Jihad) sincerely, from his heart, then he dies or is killed, he will have the reward of a martyr. Whoever is wounded or injured in the cause of Allah, it will come on the Day of Resurrection bleeding the most it ever bled, but its colour will be like saffron, and its fragrance will be like musk. Whoever is wounded in the cause of Allah, upon him is the seal of the martyrs.” (Sunan an-Nasa’i 3141)

In the shadow of Israel’s relentless onslaught, our eyes have been forced open to unspeakable horrors. We have been confronted with chilling imagery, etched into our minds forever: the lifeless bodies of Palestinian children, women and men. Amidst this heart-wrenching carnage, we find solace in one stark truth: these individuals, torn from this world in the most brutal manner, stand as martyrs.

In a video featuring Palestinian journalist Saleh Aljafarawi, he is seen inside a tent surrounded by the deceased, shrouded in their burial garments, prepared for their final journey. With a radiant smile, Aljafarawi shares, translated loosely, his profound contentment, describing how the area around the martyr is filled solely with the sacred fragrance of musk.

“I always wanted to smell musk. We always smelled the smell of musk from the blood and body of the martyrs. It has a beautiful smell. Something that is indescribable.”

In another video by Documenting Oppression Against Muslims, the martyr is identified as Abdullah Rabee’ Sahwil. Sahwil was under the rubble for at least two days and yet, his body has not decomposed. It is as if he is still alive.

Many others have reported smelling musk while walking the streets of Gaza with the Gaza Health Ministry writing on Facebook, “By Allah we smelled the smell of musk among the martyrs”.

The night sky filled with angels

Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “The martyr experiences no more pain in being slain than one of you experiences from the stinging of an ant.” [At-Tirmidhi]. (Riyad as-Salihin 1323)

In a Twitter/X post, Asim Khan, Public speaker and Author of “The Simple Seerah”, tweeted a message he had received from a woman in Gaza in which she described the miracle of seeing angels carry the souls of the departed to Allah (SWT) and the smell of perfume (musk) in the air.

“If Allah lifted the veil for you for just ten minutes and you could see the sky of Palestine, you would see a sight of wonder. Waves of angels racing to ascend with the souls of the martyrs to Allah in a special celebration. I swear by Allah, besides whom there is no god but Him, the sky is filled with the scent of perfume! These people have completed their test in this world, so there is no need for them to stay in this world. Allah has chosen them for Paradise. You see the painful images, don’t you? But my messenger and your messenger Muhammad (ﷺ) swore by Allah that the martyr will not experience pain except that of a pinch. So just as if I pinch you by the hand, do not fear for them. I know you are saddened, so remember what the Messenger (ﷺ) said…No one in this world dies and wishes to return to the world except the martyr. The martyr wishes that they would die for His sake a thousand times; to keep dying for His sake and come back. I am now seeing things in Gaza that if you saw them with your own eyes, you would die of joy. These martyrs are alive and eternally provided for by their Sustainer.”

Palestinian poet, Hiba Abu Nada, who was killed by an Israeli airstrike on 20 October, wrote on her final post, “Gaza’s night is dark apart from the glow of rockets, quiet apart from the sounds of bombs, terrifying apart from the comforts of prayer, black apart from the light of martyrs. Good night Gaza”.

In a Twitter/X post by Saad Yacoob, a poet and writer, he relates an incident which took place after he had given a motivational talk at a musjid speaking on what people can do for Palestine and how they can help the Palestinians.

“I was at a masjid last night giving a motivational talk asking people to do what they can for Palestine. The next morning, the imam left me a voice note telling me of a dream a young boy saw that night. He saw that he was in Madinah sharif and that the entire Rawdah was filled with the bodies of the shuhadaa’ of Palestine. And while they looked dead, they would move and make noises as if they were alive. This is significant, because the Rawdah is a part of Jannah on earth, meaning that these shuhadaa’ are in Jannah, and they are moving as if they are alive, because we are told:

 وَلَا تَقُولُواْ لِمَن يُقۡتَلُ فِي سَبِيلِ ٱللَّهِ أَمۡوَٰتُۢۚ بَلۡ أَحۡيَآءٞ وَلَٰكِن لَّا تَشۡعُرُونَ

‘Never say that those martyred in the cause of Allah are dead—in fact, they are alive! But you do not perceive it.’ Never forget the words of Umar (RA) after Uhud: our dead are in paradise, and your dead are in hellfire.”

The help of Allah (SWT) on the battlefield

In addition to that, there are miracles happening on the frontlines. In a video posted by a brother in Jordan, he speaks on the miracles happening on the frontlines one of which is the Israeli forces believing they are encountering a large force when it was just one soldier.

“There are some [IDF] soldiers saying that as the Mujahideen were approaching them and coming closer to them and they were about to engage in fighting, they felt a great presence. A great fear. Like a big number or a very strong force was about to come and it turned out it was just one Mujahid that had come and fought them.”

This incident is also spoken about by Abu Ubaidah, Hamas Military Spokesperson, in the 10 minute video released by Hamas which covered a number of things. In it Abu Ubaidah talks of how one man was able to push back an entire convoy.

“We saw Allah (SWT) victory when only one of our fighters destroyed three vehicles and killed and wounded those inside as the enemy fled from him as if fleeing from an army. We saw Allah (SWT) victory as our naval commando entered Zikim a few days ago. They reached the enemy’s forces, engaged with them in a prolonged battle and struck horror into them. While the enemy claims readiness and threatens with invasion and the enemy proudly declares he killed ten Mujahideen while the force was composed of only three Mujahideen.”

The IDF has tried to enter Gaza many times and everytime they have been pushed back and defeated. Losing many armoured vehicles and soldiers in the process. Allah (SWT) help and mercy is with the people of Palestine, the people of Gaza and victory comes only through the help of Allah (SWT).
