Internet blackout and humanitarian crisis

Gazans, for the third time in a month, have lost touch with the outside world. A collapse in connectivity from has made it difficult to monitor the situation on the ground.

“Our fearless air force personnel air-dropped at midnight urgent medical aid to the Jordanian field hospital in Gaza,” tweeted King Abdullah II, shortly after 02:00 local time. “This is our duty to aid our brothers and sisters injured in the war on Gaza. We will always be there for our Palestinian brethren.”

At home, axed Democratic Alliance (DA) shadow minister for public enterprises, Galieb Cachalia, accepted his dismissal over remarks he made condemning Israel. The party’s head honcho, in a leaked letter, lambasted him for being out of sync with its official stance.
