The Thulsie twins have pleaded guilty to some terror related charges. Brandon-Lee will spend an effective 8 years behind bars and his twin brother Tony-Lee 11 years behind bars after entering into a plea and sentencing agreement with the state.

Brandon-Lee and Tony-Lee appeared again in the Johannesburg High Court on Monday after the case was postponed three weeks ago.

Judge Ratha Mokgoatlheng upheld the plea agreement between the defence and the state.

Under the plea agreement, the twins pleaded guilty to attempting to travel to Syria twice in 2015 to join ISIS to conduct terrorist activities.

The brothers also pleaded guilty to downloading ISIS literature from the internet, including instructions on how to acquire weapons and make bombs.

In addition, Tony-Lee pleaded guilty to the charge of conspiracy to commit a terrorist attack in South Africa.

The twins spent almost six years behind bars which will be deducted from the sentence handed down by Judge Mokgoatlheng. The brothers were supposed to go on trial on Monday after their case was delayed several times for a number of reasons, including their legal teams being changed.

Brandon-Lee and Tony-Lee were arrested during raids in Azaadville and Newclare in Johannesburg in July 2016 after being accused of planning attacks on Jewish and American interests in South Africa.
