Global Qurbani Initiative by Muslim Hands Brings Hope to Struggling Communities

South Africa – As Eid al-Adha approaches, Muslims around the world prepare to sacrifice livestock, such as sheep and cows, in honour of Prophet Ibrahim’s profound obedience and faith.

However, Thasneem Mullah from Muslim Hands South Africa emphasises that this animal sacrifice is more than a ritual. It reminds us to embody selflessness, generosity, and compassion by supporting those in need.

“By offering a Qurbani, we are demonstrating our willingness to give up something precious for the sake of Allah and to share our blessings with those that are less fortunate.”

This year, Muslim Hands is leading a Qurbani campaign that will provide quality, fresh, and nutritious meat to vulnerable communities worldwide and supply essential foods and ingredients.

The campaign spans 11 countries, including India, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Pakistan, Senegal, South Africa, Sri Lanka, and The Gambia, often marked by extreme hardships such as political instability, conflict, poverty, and natural disasters.

Through their established networks with local partners and organisations, Muslim Hands ensures that supplies and donations are distributed safely and effectively to communities in these countries.

This will ensure that these communities, often marked by extreme hardships such as political instability, conflict, poverty, and natural disasters, can enjoy wholesome meals and experience relief and hope.

“We’ve managed to establish a comprehensive network with trusted partners and local organisations on the ground in these countries. These partners have a deep understanding of the communities they serve and work closely with them, assisting us in identifying those most in need. Additionally, we implement a thorough monitoring and evaluation process that helps track the distribution of the donations, ensuring transparency and accountability throughout that process.”

The campaign, titled “The Greatest Sacrifice,” reflects the profound significance of Eid ul-Adha.  Mullah emphasised that the campaign enables people to fulfil their religious obligation of sacrificing an animal while embodying the spirit of giving and sharing with the less fortunate, allowing them to enjoy and celebrate this auspicious occasion.

“We hope to foster a sense of unity and compassion within the broader community by inspiring individuals to come together and support those in need during this blessed time of the year.”

Muslim Hands encourages everyone to donate, reminding us that every contribution, no matter how small, can make a significant difference in the lives of others. Your donation has the power to bring a smile to a child’s face, to provide a family with a nutritious meal, and to offer hope to a community in need.

“By donating your Qurbani to Muslim Hands, you’re not only fulfilling your religious obligation but also extending a hand of compassion and support to vulnerable communities around the world.”
