In an article for The Algemeiner, Dexter van Zile claimed that Reverend Frank Chikane, moderator of the Commission of the Churches on International Affairs (CCIA) of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and an avid supporter of the Palestinian cause, declared war on the settler-colonial state of Israel and its supporters.

Speaking to Salaamedia’s Inayet Wadee on News and Views, Chikane clarified allegations made against him by van Zile, to whom he had not even spoken. Instead of declaring war on apartheid Israel, Chikane strongly condemned the racist state, openly stating his support of the Palestinian people and criticising Israel’s inhumane treatment of them.

Chikane is, at present, under attack by supporters of Israel and the Zionist lobby, but is standing by his pro-Palestine remarks and will not change his stance.

“My truth will not change because I am being attacked; the truth does not change because people attack you,” said Chikane.

When asked about his use of theological justification, Chikane explained that no religious scripture could ever justify the killing of innocent people, and what the Israeli army and government are doing is in clear violation of any Abrahamic teachings.

In closing, Chikane stated that he is on the side of God, who is a God of justice; and that he will continue to fight alongside all those who support the Palestinian cause.
