“I’m at a loss for words.” Those were the words of Zakir Kathrada, Captain of the Marks Park Cricket Club, as he celebrated the team’s victory at the Enza Premier League finals.
He was celebrating the team’s historic victory when he told Salaamedia: “What we achieved yesterday is far greater than all of us.” Whilst thanking the many supporters for rallying behind the team, Kathrada also noted the collective effort of the team and those “behind the scenes”.
Kathrada said the team had played “really well” at home, which may possibly have resulted in the team’s success over the weekend.
“If we look after our grassroots level, the rest will take care of itself,” he said as he looked towards the future of the club.
