In yet another plea begging the world to act, Palestinian academic Dr Haidar Eid has asked the international community to take action, or “all Palestinians will be dead by tomorrow”.

“The world has to act, otherwise all Palestinians will be dead by tomorrow,” said the associate professor at Al-Aqsa University. He spoke to Salaamedia on the sidelines of a tribute held in honour of Gazan journalist Saadi Mdoukh in Johannesburg on Thursday.

Nine months into the war of extermination, officials in Gaza say at least 38 345 people have been killed and 88 295 wounded. The heel of apartheid Israel continues to stamp out Palestinian lives.

‘Dead by tomorrow’

Eid’s comments come as many fleeing violence in Gaza have nowhere to go. While Israel on Wednesday ordered the evacuation of Gaza City, not even Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, was safe. Northern Gaza remains a wasteland after months of bombardment.

“In other words, the Israelis are pushing the Palestinians of Gaza towards a death trap,” he said, adding: “It’s time for the international community to act.”

The urgency of his plea came when he stated: “How many more amputated bodies of Palestinian children and women does the international community want to see in order to act?”

“It took the international community more than 30 years to heed the call made by the oppressed South Africans, Black South Africans, in order to impose sanctions and a military embargo against the apartheid regime

On Friday, a spokesperson for Gaza’s Civil Defence told Al Jazeera that 60 bodies had been found in the Tal Al-Hawa neighbourhood of Gaza City. Occupation forces withdrew from the area earlier that morning.

“At least 60 bodies were counted. Some bodies were buried on the spot. Others were taken to nearby hospitals. Many bodies are still under the rubble. The Israeli forces are stationed nearby and the rescue efforts are interrupted regularly”, said Mahmoud Basal.
