Hamas Condemns Israeli Strikes Across the Region

Beirut – Hamas has strongly denounced the recent Israeli strikes on Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, labelling them as a “dangerous escalation.” The group emphasised that these antagonistic actions are a continuation of the Zionist regime’s violent assault throughout the region.

“The terrorist Zionist bombing of Yemen, and its targeting of civilian facilities in the port of Hudaydah, as well as the aggression against Syria, is a dangerous escalation and an extension of the occupation’s aggression and criminality in Palestine, Lebanon and the Arab region, with blatant and open American support.”

These attacks have gone beyond military targets, as claimed by Israeli authorities, leading to significant civilian casualties, widespread destruction of communities, and severe damage to essential infrastructure. This has only worsened the existing crises in the affected countries.

Lebanese journalist Nazir Rida argues that the international community’s silence on these bombings has emboldened Israel, effectively giving it the green light to expand the war on multiple fronts without facing any consequences or accountability.

“Israel is not attacking, only attacking the border. They have been attacking all over Lebanon. There is no safe place in Lebanon. At least a third of Lebanese people are suffering from Israeli strikes, which are targeting large areas in Lebanon.”

The Impact of Israel’s Bombing on Lebanese Civilians.

Since Israel’s attacks on Lebanon began, the devastation experienced by Lebanese civilians has been immense. Homes, schools, and hospitals lie in ruins, with critical infrastructure badly damaged.

Rida shared that more than a million people have been displaced, forced to abandon their communities in search of safety. Many have sought refuge in overcrowded shelters, where food, water, and medical care are scarce.

The unrelenting bombings have claimed over a thousand lives, with thousands more injured. Despite calls for a ceasefire, the assaults persist, worsening the humanitarian crisis and further unravelling Lebanon’s already fragile economy and social stability.

“The Lebanese people have turned to alternatives, as they always do in crises. From 15 years ago until now, the Lebanese people have been helping each other. People open their homes to receive displaced people, and some try to provide food, blankets, and aid to displaced people from the south and from Beirut’s suburbs.”

“The Lebanese have found no other way than this individual aid. We don’t have a government capable of dealing with such a crisis. The government doesn’t have the ability to manage this situation.”
