Saudi Arabia – When the invitation to Hajj comes, it overrides all plans, red tape, and timing. For first-time pilgrim Hamzah Saeed, the journey to Makkah wasn’t just unexpected, it was guided by something greater.
In a live interview from the holy city, he shared how quickly things unfolded. He was initially meant to assist other South African Hujjaj, but he didn’t expect to be the one performing Hajj. He explained that he hadn’t been on the waiting list for long. Within days, his visa was approved, and he was on a flight to Medina.
“I was so overwhelmed, so emotional, like when I jumped in the plane, I did not wait to land in Doha. And when it landed again, I did not wait for it to land in Medina, because deep down I just realised everything that I’ve been hearing in the bayaan, reading in the Qur’an, and listening to from different imams, now I’m going to have to witness it with my own eyes. So the feeling is something I cannot describe,” he said.
Even though the trip came together fast, Hamza said he was ready. His heart had been preparing for this moment long before the paperwork. He didn’t need detailed plans. What drove him was a deep desire to stand before the Kaaba, something he had hoped for over many years.
“I didn’t expect in my lifetime that I’m going to see it, because it takes a lot of effort and a lot of means for one to get here. So, being here today, I’m so grateful. It is something I’ve been hoping one day to do, and it happened so quickly. When I was planning for another time, Allah planned it now,” he said.
Hamza’s story is a reminder that when Allah calls you to Hajj, nothing gets in the way. The timing may not make sense, but the heart knows when it’s right. For many, Hajj is not just a journey, it’s an answer to a prayer. And when that answer comes, the soul doesn’t hesitate.
