Mass Eid lunch to bring the community together

by Salaamedia

Johannesburg – For the first time Muslimah-run organisations will come together to host a family Mass Eid lunch. It is a collaborative even hosted by Muslimah On Call, Muslimah Stand Tall, Sistership United Indeed and others. The Mass Eid is intended to give reverts and others, who might spend Eid by themselves, a wholesome experience amongst the Muslim community.

“Anyone can come. It’s just about having a great Eid and enjoying it. One of the benefits is that reverts, anyone who doesn’t have a better way to spend Eid can now have a great Eid,” said Roomanah Hassen-Bootha, the founder of Muslimah Stand Tall.

Sadia Rantseli, from Sistership-United in Deen, “The importance is for us to to get the message across to those that may have not heard of it. For them to know that in the future, there is something that will cater for you also so that you don’t have to spend Eid alone in your own little space.”

The event is expected to bring together over 750 people. Those attending are encouraged to bring a gift to share, picnic baskets and blankets. Meals and drinks will however be provided.

The Community Mass Eid will take place at the Johannesburg Botanical Gardens in Emmarentia from 11am to 5pm. Eid Salaah will not be taking place at this event. For more information about the event, listen to the interview on the Ashraf Garda Show.
